54 GETTING READY, CHAPTER 3 ______________________

AUXILIARY LIGHTS

With lights atop, look out for trees. With lights below, look out, period. This goes for running lights on the front or auxiliary backup lights on the rear. Lights beneath either bumper are vulnerable.

High lights are rarely a problem, but when they've been installed below the bumper, take warning. It seems Mother Nature likes to collect these. About the time you're ready to drop off the bank, down into the wash, crunch!

Same goes for your big backup light when exiting (up) the other side of the wash. Trailer light plugs fall prey to this one, too. I think it's a sin to mount anything (except hooks and rock shields) beneath the bumper on a vehicle that will see dirt.
