HILL POSITION The graphics show desirable and undesirable positions on a hill, regardless of how you get there. You should stay as close to straight up and straight down as possible. That's parallel to the fall line. To picture the fall line, imagine how water would flow down that hill. That's typically straight down. You want to pretend you are flowing water whether you are going up or down. You want to steer straight up and straight down. Sideways on hills is what tips 4WDs over! The reason 4WDs get sideways on hills, I'm sorry to say, is only one thing: Driver error. Take responsibility at the bottom of the hill, before you start up. There, your 4WD is correct side up and in good shape. The only reason it ends up at the bottom in pieces depends on you, the driver! Clear your mind of all your lame excuses and reasons, take responsibility and safely drive to the best of your current ability. With acknowledgment of responsibility comes improvement each time out. |
