WHAT:
This is not a 4WD technical challenge, but an all
hotel 4WD tour of Copper Canyon, Mexico. No camping required! One
cannot begin to describe the magnificence of Barranca del
Cobre (Copper Canyon, Mexico), Mexico’s Grand Canyon. It's
actually a complex of several canyons, one of which (Urique)
is more than a football field deeper! Day one takes us
to Nuevo Casas Grandes and the famous Paquimé ruins
and museum. Day two takes us to remote Tejaban for the only
hotel on the real Copper Canyon, Mexico. Day three puts
us at the bottom of Batopilas Canyon for the night and
a little adventure to the "lost mission." On
days four and five, we lay over in Creel and marvel at
the Tarahumara Indians living in caves and the Mushroom
Rocks, to name a few local attractions. Day six is
a leisurely drive to Divisadero where we’ll watch the
train and "regular" copper Canyon tours arrive at this most
popular of all stops. Next, it’s off to Cerocahui for
two nights and a side trip to the bottom of the deepest of all
"Copper Canyon, Mexico" canyons, Urique. Copper
Canyon is in fact a complex of many "Grand Canyon"
size canyons, so that's why we call it the world's best kept
secret. The trail roughens on our way to the hotel in Temoris.
Day nine, we ford the Chinipas River and say goodbye to
conventional civilization until we arrive at colonial Alamos
for two nights of supreme luxury. For more details
about our Mexico tours,

the April 2003 tour.
