This
weekend getaway couples sand driving skills improvement with
local historic, geologic and botanical high desert
attractions. We also take a peek (only) at a black
diamond (Jackhammer) 4WD trail ~ see Introducing
the HAMMERS if you're interested in taking on one of the
most difficult black diamonds in the world! And see
Lunch in Lucerne
for an easy (no low range required) daytrip in the same
area.
WHAT:
In the high desert near Lucerne Valley, we’ll practice the
ups and downs of conquering the soft stuff and reveal the
ultimate secret to staying afloat! We'll also discuss a
variety of airing up and down methods and products. And
just to ensure you'll also be capable of pulling out your
stuck buddy, we'll throw in a recovery secret or two.
Saturday
evening, we'll make camp near the dunes and enjoy a potluck
dinner. On Sunday, we'll hone our skills on the nearby
dunes. Time allowing, we’ll then trek to an impressive
Landers earthquake fault, a geoglyph site (rock arrangements),
some awesome Indian rock art (petroglyphs) and a cluster of
ancient Mojave yucca "clone circles," the largest of
which is at least 2,500 years old and 12 feet in diameter.
